Shutters up
About 09:00–10:00. The souks open slowly, shop by shop. The early hour is the calmest time to walk them.

The midday call
Midday (dhuhr). The dhuhr call sounds from the Koutoubia's 12th-century minaret, about 77 m with its spire, the landmark the whole medina steers by. Non-Muslims admire it from the gardens.

The square is built
About 16:00–17:00. Handcarts roll into Jemaa el-Fnaa with poles, benches and grills. The food stalls go up and the first performer circles form.

- Close. The High Atlas rises straight off the city plain: Imlil, the village at the foot of Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m), is about 60 km and 1h30 by car, and the Ourika Valley about 1h15. The Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m) on the road to Ait Ben Haddou is about 2h30 away. All of them are private day trips, back in Marrakech for dinner.
- Agafay is a stone desert: bare, rolling hills of rock and earth with no sand dunes, about 40 minutes from the medina, so a sunset camel or quad ride and a camp dinner fit into an evening. The Sahara dunes of Erg Chebbi at Merzouga are about 560 km and 8 hours 30 minutes away by road over the Atlas, so plan at least three days for them.
- Every trip is quoted in writing for your group, your dates and your route, within 24 hours. The quote lists exactly what is included: usually a private car or 4x4 with an English- or French-speaking driver, fuel, tolls and parking, and a local guide where one is needed. Nothing is charged to ask.
- Yes. A driver waits in arrivals with your name, whatever time you land; the flight is tracked, so a delay does not cost you the pickup. The medina is about 15 minutes (6 km) from Marrakech Menara Airport; where the lanes get too narrow for the car, a porter wheels your bags to the riad door. We also drive from RAK to anywhere in Morocco.
